The ABCs of safety first.
While the actual infusion of Esperoct® will only take about two minutes, prep and clean-up will probably add another 15–20 minutes to the process. Here’s what to know before you start:
- “A” is for aseptic: Clean hands, sterile gloves, and sterile packaging are essential elements of an aseptic technique. Avoid cross contamination of bacteria from one surface or one person to another by following contact guidelines.
- “B” is for bring: Bring the Esperoct® vial and pre-filled diluent syringe to room temperature.
- “C” is for container: Have a sharps container on-hand for disposal after reconstituting factor in the single-use MixPro® syringe.
Esperoct® is ready in 3 simple steps.
Esperoct® comes with a MixPro® syringe that simplifies the reconstitution process into three quick steps.
Attach: Remove the plastic cap from the vial and wipe the stopper with an alcohol swab. Place the vial adapter over the vial and press down firmly until the adapter spike pierces the rubber stopper.
Twist: Connect the plunger rod to the syringe and twist the rod clockwise into the rubber plunger inside the syringe until it stops. Break off the syringe cap and screw the MixPro® syringe tip onto the vial adapter until tight.
Mix: Push the plunger to inject the diluent into the vial. Without removing syringe, gently swirl the Esperoct® vial until all of the powder is dissolved. Do not shake the vial. Check the reconstituted Esperoct for particulate matter and discoloration. The solution should be clear with no particles. Discard if either exist.

Patients who participate in any government, state, or federally funded medical or prescription benefit program, including Medicare, Medicaid, Medigap, VA, DOD, and TRICARE, including patients who participate in a managed Medicaid program or have Medicaid as secondary insurance, are not eligible to receive product support. Your questions, answered.
Question: How does standard dosing make switching to Esperoct® straightforward?
Answer: As a prophylaxis treatment, your healthcare provider is able to determine dosing based on a simple, standard calculation of 50 IU per kilogram (50 IU/kg) of weight for adults and adolescents, and 65 IU/kg for children younger than 12. Your physician may adjust to less or more frequent dosing to achieve a specific target level or based on bleeding episodes.
Question: Why did I receive a MixPro® syringe in each box of Esperoct®? Can’t I just use the same MixPro® syringe to reconstitute all of my vials?
Answer: No, you cannot reuse your MixPro® syringe. Each vial of Esperoct® is accompanied by its own pre-filled syringe and contains enough 0.9% saline solution to reconstitute a single vial of factor.
